Two Days of Hands-On Otologic Surgical Training
Explore temporal bone anatomy and refine otologic surgical techniques through faculty-guided cadaveric dissection. The programme progresses from mastoidectomy and middle ear work to stapedotomy simulation, cochlear implantation and skull base exposure.
This two-day course at Jazan University focuses on practical otologic surgical training. Faculty-guided sessions cover temporal bone landmarks, mastoid surgery, middle ear dissection and approaches to hearing implantation and the lateral skull base.
Day 1 builds the foundations through lab orientation, anatomy review, basic mastoidectomy and facial recess work. Day 2 progresses to stapedotomy simulation, cochlear implantation, labyrinthectomy and internal auditory canal exposure, followed by supervised independent practice.
Structured dissection sessions support step-by-step practice of otologic surgical techniques.
The programme includes instrument sets and personal protective equipment for the laboratory sessions.
Review surgical landmarks, discuss key tips and potential pitfalls, and practise under faculty supervision.
The course concludes with evaluation, feedback and certificate distribution.
